February 7, 2022
Kalamazoo, MI

Geotechnical specialty engineering and construction contractor 猫咪社区 Construction is joining The Michigan Department of Transportation鈥檚 (MDOT) railroad bridge replacement project in Jackson, MI.

As part of the $19.7 million project, two 100-year-old railroad bridges over Jackson and Mechanic Streets in the City of Jackson will be replaced. The project also includes rebuilding hundreds of feet of retaining wall and improving safety and mobility for motorist, pedestrian and rail traffic.

The bridges are on a 聽segment of railroad owned by MDOT, within the federally designated high-speed rail corridor between Chicago and Detroit. The corridor supports Amtrak passenger service and Norfolk Southern freight trains.

The General Contractor for the project, Anlaan, selected 猫咪社区 to be their dedicated specialty subcontractor. 猫咪社区鈥檚 work includes the installation of micropiles to support the new bridge abutments and permanent soil anchors as part of the new earth retention walls used to raise the existing railroad grade, which will increase the clearance for vehicles.

鈥淏ringing our engineering and construction experience to our own back yard to strengthen local infrastructure is one of the best parts of what we do,鈥 said Dan Thome, P.E., Senior Vice President, 猫咪社区鈥檚 Central Region. 鈥淲e鈥檙e always proud of the work we do in the communities where our employees live.鈥

猫咪社区鈥檚 work on the project will be completed in November of 2022.
